Is my product damaged?

If at any time you are unsure or have questions about your SAFE-TEC helmet's condition, you can send it to SAFE-TEC for a free inspection. Our technician will thoroughly inspect your helmet, note any damage found and make our recommendations on whether the helmet should continue to be used. What's the warranty on SAFE-TEC products?

Any SAFE-TEC helmet determined by SAFE-TEC to be defective in materials or workmanship within one (1) year of the purchase date will be repaired or replaced, at SAFE-TEC's option, free of charge when received at the factory freight prepaid, together with proof of purchase. How do I obtain replacement parts for my product?

Some small parts can be purchased on this site. Look for the "accessories" section. For all other parts, call us at (951) 234-0787 or contact us. We are here to help.

Can I use my bicycle helmet for other sports/activities besides cycling?

Each SAFE-TEC helmet is certified for specific activities and should not be used for other sports. All helmets listed in the cycling section of this website are ONLY for cycling, with the exception of the ASP018 helmet which is certified for skate use as well as cycling.

Can I paint my helmet?

SAFE-TEC does not recommend paints or solvents of any kind to be used on our helmets. They can damage a helmet so that its protective capabilities are significantly reduced.

When should I replace my helmet?

SAFE-TEC has a general recommendation of replacing your helmet every three (3) years. If you are unsure of the condition of your helmet, or whether it should be replaced, call us at (951) 234-0787 or contact us for information on a free inspection.

What do I Do if my helmet is damaged?

Noting lasts forever. Do not use your helmet if it is visibly damaged (cracked outer shell, crushed or cracked foam liner or any other damage). Some or all of the helmet's protective capacity is used up when impacted, and the damage to a helmet is not always visible. How do I store my helmet?

After each use, allow the helmet to air and dry. Store in a cool, dry and dark place.
Note: excessive heat can damage your helmet. For example, in direct sunlight, the interior or trunk of a car. Damaged helmets have an uneven or bubbly surface.

How should I clean my helmet?

Helmets are made of materials that can be damaged by many commonly used cleaners. Petroleum based solvents or cleaners are especially damaging. They can damage a helmet and reduce it' protective capabilities. This damage is often invisible. Clean your helmet with a soft cloth or sponge, warm water and mild soap (such as a mild dish soap).

How do I remove lice?

We get inquiries from day care centers or from people who share their helmets, and are concerned about lice.

Why was my entire helmet replaced under warranty when only the fitting was broken?

A SAFE-TEC helmet fittin system is a sophisticated structure. Replacing the fitting could possibly compromise the helmet's ability to stay in place properly in the event of a crash. This could result in injury.

Does SAFE-TEC have a crash replacement program?
